PlaceIQ’s Technology Privacy Practices
PlaceIQ’s technology collects information about the location of mobile devices. Our technology uses precise location information to create non-precise GEO-location segments. For example, we may obtain the latitude and longitude (i.e.,lat/long) coordinates from one of our mobile App partners who has your consent to receive such information. We take that precise location information and quickly roll that information up into non-precise GEO segment in order to enhance our ad targeting and analytics capabilities. The company uses the information collected in order to help make the digital ads you see more relevant to you, and for ad delivery and reporting purposes.
Types of information we collect via our Technology
PlaceIQ obtains precise location data about your device from our business partners, which are generally mobile advertising networks and mobile Apps. These partners help deliver advertising onto your mobile device. We require that these companies have your permission prior to sending us precise location information. We also collect Non-Personally Identifiable Information (“Non-PII”) via our technology, including but not limited to device type, an anonymous identifier associated with your mobile device, mobile browser type, operating system, and IP address. We don’t collect personally identifiable information (“PII) such as email or telephone number via our technology. In other words, we are unable to identify who you are via our technology.
PlaceIQ’s technology uses pseudonymous identifiers associated with your mobile device in order to help make the digital advertisements you see are more relevant to you. We utilize hashing, encryption and de-identification techniques to help ensure your privacy is safeguarded.
Website Privacy Practices
Personally Identifiable Information (PII) Our website is primarily designed to provide information to our clients, which are typically businesses. This includes but is not limited to the use of firewalls and encryption. No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure; therefore, while the company strives to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, it cannot guarantee absolute security.
Information Relating to Children
PlaceIQ’s products and services are designed for those 18 years of age and older and we don’t collect PII via our technology. PlaceIQ does not knowingly collect PII from anyone under the age of 13 via our Website. If we are made aware that we have received PII from someone under 13 (e.g., a child sends us an email with her postal address and date of birth), we will use reasonable efforts to remove that information from our records.
Disclosure of Information to Third Parties
PlaceIQ does not rent, sell or share PII with non-affiliated third parties without user consent. The company may, however, share PII with trusted third-party partners. These third party contractors are prohibited from using the information for purposes other than performing services for PlaceIQ.
PlaceIQ may disclose your information to third parties when obligated to do so by law and in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected, or actual prohibited activities, including but not limited to fraud and situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person.
Finally, PlaceIQ may transfer information, including any PII, to a successor entity in connection with a corporate merger, consolidation, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or other corporate change.
